Visitors at Rainford...

Creech Bottom had a wonderful welcome at Rainford at the Narrow Gauge Railway show today...

Rather than show photos of my own stock here are a few visitors to the layout. If you visited and said hello then thanks for talking to me - and if you've any photos you'd like to share then please find my thread on NGRM and add them there!

First up is a beautiful hand build Quarry Hunslet that Neil Sayer built in his teens more years ago then he cares to remember. It's a real beauty and work of art, and with a little encouragement we coaxed some life from it's aging Sagami motor. Lovely to see you Neil thanks for popping by...

Next is Ben Powell's kit bashed Haig class Kerr Stuart with contractor cab, running on a Fleischmann BR80 N gauge chassis using a hacked up Chivers kit for the Joffre. A lovely model and one I plan to replicate in the very near future now - thanks for the inspiration Ben!

Finally a very proud moment indeed as the Roving Reporter's rail car visited Creech Bottom - here Mick Thornton is pictured picturing the moment for his blog - thanks Mick, it ran beautifully despite an aging Arnold Kof chassis underneath - and certainly did not look out of place on the layout...

  2. Love the view along the fence posts. Makes the layout seem huge. Also like how you have avoided right angles when placing track and structures - that makes the layout appear as a 'cut out' of the real landscape.

    Claus that was very much the intention - and the feeling of openness was something I had been inspired by your projects - and this view at the end of the layout along the brook/stream was something I was keen to achieve. I have a thought to add a decrepit old water tank on brick piers, with a small lift pump next to it - and a small 'coal' store to one side, on this headshunt... the story was the line was intended to continue hence why it went over the brook, but the clay workings were exhausted on other parts of the line before this happened so the mines and railway company went into decline in the inter-war period.

    One last thing to say, Ben Powell's Kerr Stuart, seen on the headshunt, has inspired me to do my own so a Roco Feldbahn and Five79 Joffre are on their way from Parkside Dundas.
