Lyd2 in 009: buffer beam and sandboxes...

I have been making a bit of progress with the Lyd2 this evening but have found a problem...
I've fabricated the front steps and buffer beam, which fitted together well and are a very tight fit on the chassis. I also soldered up the coupling rods, from the two laminations and filed the edges smooth.

However I also have folded up and soldered the sand boxes on to the chassis. Firstly these are too deep for the chassis, so I've had to file about 1.5mm off the back of the sandboxes. Secondly, with them fitted, I'm not sure how to do the outside cranks as the coupling rods clash with the sandboxes if mounted right up to the frame. Some pondering and looking at prototype photos next to work out the best way to address this.
