Apedale Valley Railway...
A lovely day out yesterday to the Apedale Valley Railway at Newcastle Under Lyme.
Elly, Dave (my best man and good friend from university) and Alex and I visited - our first trip - and it coincided with the annual gala. That meant a lot more to see, and we have a very relaxing afternoon in the sunshine enjoying four engines in steam and a myriad of industrial locomotives travelling around the field on temporary contractors style track.
On the 'mainline', which is perhaps a touch short really, but's more a museum than a railway, there were the following all in steam. Marchlyn and the Surrey CC engines were visiting, usually based at Statfold Barn I believe...
We had lovely weather, ice cream and a bouncy castle for Elly. Very enjoyable and highly recommended. I hope that it appeared to be busy meant the railway did ok out of it!
