Lyd2 in 009: ready for weathering...

I've pushed on with the Polish locomotives, and am excited to share some photos of the pair finished, bar weathering. First up the Lyd2, which has been finished in an approximation of the blue livery it carried in the 1970s...
The prototype white stripe is a touch lower, but that would have been harder to mask over the door handles in the bonnet, it should also sport red borders, but I didn't fancy applying transfers. Painting started with white on the buffer beams and body, this was masked before applying the black to the buffer beams and chassis. Once dry the masking was removed, and then the body was masked for painting the blue, mixed from two Humbrol enamels. The balance weights were picked out in red, and the roof also sprayed with a mid grey. The window rubber grommets were touched in with black paint.
The works and number plates were painted and then added, etched for me many years ago by Steve at Narrow Planet. The headlights were picked out in silver with silver edges. Couplings, NP Bosna, not quite 100% accurate but work well, and air pipes were added and painted. The model was sealed with Dull-cote.
The glazing was cut from 10thou clear styrene and secured with a latex type glue to avoid fogging. The roof was then firmly attached with superglue, which has unfortunately slightly fogged the front window on this side.
The finished result looks far to clean and neat, so will get some oil leaks around the doors, road dirt, dry brushing, dust and faded paint from above, and then some exhaust build up. More soon...
