Track panels in 009...
I've scratchbuilt a set of three 15ft track panels in 009 using plastic...
The rail is over scale 1.5mm I section but it made construction easy. The sleepers are two ridges of Slaters 4mm corrugated plastic sheet.
First the sleepers are cut to a tad over 15mm in length, you need five per section to model the Koppel track panels. Then cut the rail to 60mm and drill two small 0.45mm holes in each end. Attach a sleeper to the centre with an overlap of 2mm with liquid polystyrene cement and then add the second rail, also 2mm from the end of the sleeper. Add two sleepers at each end, about 4mm from the end and the remaining pair equidistant in the gaps.
Voila, a typical if overscale track panel that can be painted and rusted up to dump alongside your depot or permanent way. More soon...
