Dawson Creek in 009: track laying...
Last weekend the kids and I made some good progress on Dawson Creek and finished the track laying...
The track, Shinohara H0N2.5 was easy to bend to the desired shape, and I'm happy with the organic flow of the layout, despit ethe sharp corners. The joint just after the creek bridge where it straightens a little is soldered before it was bent to shape, and that seems to have kept it in gauge.
The track is easy to work with, but is less robust than Peco track and I'm yet to try it out in anger to see how things run through the point work. The intention was I wanted short radius electrofrog points but didn't want to pay Minitrains prices - so these ones, priced similar to Peco, seemed worth a try.
The next stage, this coming weekend, will be solder in track feeds and test run it, before creating a small control panel with isolating switches for the sidings. More soon...
