Inside Out: Colouring in (Part 5)...

Over the holidays, proper, progress on Inside Out has slowed somewhat. However, it has been a wonderful muse, continuing to tease and excite as I set up the lighting and enjoy peering into the tiny scene...

In these photos the paint is still wet, yet despite this, the start of colour has allowed the imagery to become even sharper, clearer in my mind. You'll note my Grandpa's ancient Grafar 'Robert' has been swapped for Christmas arrival 'Amazon'. Far, far too clean, but with a fantastic presence.

The basic colours have been started - usual Humbrol shades, applied wet and mixed on the go, lots more to add, and weathering too - but as usual, I find the posing of half finished models together a great opportunity to check composition and make sure things are progressing as I had planned.

An almost entirely blank canvas, a chance for our imagination to fill the space instead

We're back in the shed again, looking out and feeling the textures work, as hoped. A collection of rather lovely N gauge Modelu shed details arrived just before Christmas - these will be painted up and moved around the scene... beyond the walls, the British Finescale bullhead track has been painted - so once glued down, I'll ballast and add a little greenery around the structures and base - but the plan here is very minimal - an almost entirely blank canvas, a chance for our imagination to fill the space instead.

Until next time, more soon...
