Taking things in our stride…
Not everything goes to plan. Sometimes we miss, sometimes it just doesn’t work out…
Yesterday I shared a model where a mistake turned out to be a wonderful gift. These opportunities don’t happen by chance, they’re a mindset - to be open enough to know when to put something down, to walk away… acceptance brings the eye of opportunity.
That said you can’t always turn things around.
Yesterday I had my haircut early and then had enough time to catch the steel train heading south across Cefn viaduct… the light was good, I thought I might even get a wisp of mist in the valley… the train didn’t show, and a check of Real Time Trains is showing all trains cancelled…
There is always another time.
On the bench, recently, I had started a new wagon load. Painstakingly cutting concrete sleepers from British Finescale webs. Painting the chairs and arranging them, as per prorotype, for a ZAA wagon. I used a solvent as I wanted them to be well glued… the styrene base warped. All that work, wasted.
An opportunity to consider a different route for this wagon.
Today is an opportunity to reflect.
I have a nice empty workshop - the 009 and layout have all gone to new homes. Space to breathe, to consider what I enjoy and want to indulge, selfishly, next week.
An opportunity to reflect, accept the limitations of space time and budget and be realistic. But also to dream…
Until next time, more soon…
