Quintus in 009: above the footplate...
So with a solid chassis thoughts turned above the footplate this evening on my scratch build of the Pikes Tramway Manning Wardle 'Quintus'...
I remembered some of the methods I'd used on my Hunslet Waril so the smokebox front and back were measured and cut from 40 thou plasticard. These were spaced apart and a 10thou wrapper added to create a hollow part that could be filled with fluid lead. The tank was then measured up and the vertical sides and base formed in 40thou plasticard. The bottom half of the boiler is represented by half a 10mm diameter styrene tube.
Posed loosely in position it's beginning to show promise along with the Brian Madge chimney balanced roughly in place. More soon...
