Fletcher Jennings in 009: basic proportions...

The beauty of plasticard is the speed to which you work...
In just an hour and a half I have gone from a flat frame to a basic body shell, with the start of some detailing. The cab sides were made first, cut from 40thou plasticard. The front and back of the cab we're then cut to shape from 20thou styrene, the window position marked up, drilled out the centres and opened up to fit the RT etched brass spectacles. Then glued in place. Next up was the boiler, 10mm diameter styrene tube with a 20 thou wrapper at the front for the prominent smoke box. This rests on a styrene saddle that was blended in with Squadron putty.
The beading is plastic strip from an assorted bag from Slaters, and that makes a big difference. The rest of the side tanks are 20thou. The boiler and tanks are filled with fluid lead. The final detail for now is the distinctive handrail on the boiler. I have omitted the cab porthole as I don't like it!
So here you can see it posed with my tiny well tank, this is certainly a tiny brother of Dolgoch! Next up making a dome and sorting out the smokebox door, oh and I think I'll need to cut off the bottom of the bufferbeams as they seem very low! More soon...
