O&K 0-6-0wt in 009: test assembly...
A few weeks ago a bumper order from Shapeways arrived and included in there were some prototypes. This is the second one I've made a start on testing - and you should be able to see the family likeness, it's a big brother of my Narrow Planet O&K kit...
This one is based on drawings of the Czech 'new build' so it pretty close to being a true 40hp machine. The Roco chassis is a perfect fit with only minor fettling and the etch from the original kit provides most of the detailing parts. There are some new bits required - I want to do an etched piece for the smokebox door hinges, and then the front buffer beam, footplate and smokebox support will be fold up parts, with a little clever thinking. The 3D print needs a few tweaks, to include a hole for the chimney (this one I drilled out), better cab detailing and holes for the handrails - but in general it's a good fit.
I'm at the Macclesfield exhibition in a few weeks with the 009 Society stand, Narrow Planet bits and pieces as well as exhibiting Creech Bottom. If you'd like a closer look at the model it will be in the display case...
