Sirdar in 009: smoke box...

Progress on my Sirdar more quickly than I had envisaged...

I measured up the smoke box and knocked up a construction sketch, front and back are 30 thou and the wrapper is 10 thou styrene. This is hollow so before final fitting I can fill it with fluid lead, to increase the weight over the front axle to counter balance the motor at the back.

I also dug out an ex-Airfix Dapol figure to see how much space there was on the footplate. I think there will be space for a man each side which will go some way to disgusting the motor and flywheel, as the prototype has a very open cab indeed although luckily a little over hang at the rear which will help disguise it a little more.

Next up fitting the boiler, more soon...
