Commission: Bembridge re-visited…
Last year I built an Isle of Wight 02 for a customer. This year, I am building a few more and re-working several others adding extra detail and blending their weathered finish - Bembridge returned as part of this work...
When we first built it I used Fox 'SUNSHINE' style lettering - but once applied it was obvious this was over scale for the Isle of Wight locomotives. As part of this latest commission I have drawn up and had produced some custom decals with a smaller size that better match the prototype. My customer asked if I was able to re-work Bembridge and I thought this would be possible.
The original markings were gently removed with a sharpened cocktail stick and Micro-sol before the tank was smoothed with wet and dry and masked so allow some fresh Malachite green to be airbrushed on - before gloss lacquer. Decals on, seal with satin and then gently blend in the weathering a touch to match.
The result I think works really well and has further lifted the model. I am happy with the result and look forward to seeing her alongside 30 and 34 currently in green here on the bench. If you have a model you'd like some help with adjusting, renaming, re-weathering or anything of that nature, I am happy to consider all types of commission. Get in touch using the contact form and I'll be in touch with a no obligation fixed price proposal. Until next time, more soon...
