Planet Industrials: PIL-004 Peckett Post-date...
It's been a while in gestation whilst I waited for the final revised etches for the cab roof, but it's exciting to share that the next Planet Industrials kit is now ready for release tomorrow...
:: EDIT: Now available here ::
This one is a little more involved than the Barclay cab conversions, and requires the modeller to remove a fair bit from the Hornby donor body. The results though speak for themselves. I'm really pleased with the quality we're achieving on our in house 3D printed for the cabs and buffer beams - as well as the finesse of the chimney. The etched details allow the kit to capture the prototype more accurately with wheel balance overlays and a nice thin metal roof.
A number of the Hornby details are re-used, including buffers, whistle, rear lamp iron and glazing. The modeller will need to source suitable metal hook couplings, the prototype here is shown with Smith's 3 link, and use a 'fine' middle loop to ensure they don't drag on the rails when crossing points - the buffer beams are low!
The prototype Peckett W series spanned 40 odd years, with Hornby's model depicting a turn of the century W4 type. Our kit, within the realms of possibility when re-using the Hornby saddle tank and frames, depicts a later type, styled on the W6.
Excuse the handrail knob having popped out of position in the photos, of course I didn't notice this until after they were all downloaded and edited! The kit is available exclusively though the Narrow Planet marketplace, and will no doubt spawn a few more variants in the coming months, including the cut down 'Greenhithe' style shown already. Until then, keep an eye on the Planet Industrials Facebook page for more frequent updates, more soon...
