Sunday morning at Pont-y-dulais…
It has been some time since I wandered down to the shed at Pont-y-dulais but I was rewarded this morning as not one, not two but three locomotives were gently simmering on shed, waiting their turn of duty on Monday morning…
The aging Kerr Stuart Victory, the crews favourite is always well turned out, the ex BR Pannier it’s modern replacement is as filthy as it arrived. A guest from another local colliery line this morning is the green Austerity which shows signs of a recent overhaul as the grime is only beginning to disguise the thin fresh coat of green applied.
Of course, despite the blog being full of progress on Bear Creek and Beaverbrook over Christmas, PyD and Kinross have continued to inspire and energise. Short operating sessions or just a muse for a photo session. The joy of a readily accessible complete slice of model railway should never be underestimated. Normal service should resume this week, as I head back to commissions. More soon…
