From another angle...

I am a big proponent of the eye level view of a model railroad. This low angle increases realism, minimises the comprimise of a narrow shelf layout and allows us to feel part of the scene...

That immersion can come at a cost though, and after talking with a fellow modeller last night on Zoom the idea of a helicopter view came up, excuse the pun, where the opportunity to view our work from a different perspective may help it's creation, improve your skill, consider different texture and colour and think about balance.

This scene is a snap shot of the 'test' plank I did in Code 55 rail last year, with my Claremont and Concord 44t, just because. Read about the planks creation, because there are several ideas and my own personal reflections on stretching our abilities and practicing new skills.

The success of this small module encouraged me to further experiment on Bear Creek, that experiment was less successful, so I've a mind to do another 'test' piece to try out some ideas for 'finishing' ahead of ballasting on Beaverbrook later in the year. These small blocks of a new idea or method are a great way to practice with low risk, perhaps you could try the same? Until next time, more soon...
