Commission: Minitrains make-over…

“I don’t do North American commissions” but these are not what I had in mind with that statement. A pair of 009/HOn30 Minitrains models arrived for a mild makeover…

The 0-6-0st ‘Porter’ has received much more work, with a replacement cab (I used to sell these on Shapeways before the marketplace became the victim of the business failure and hasn’t returned in the aftermarh). A full repaint has seen it lettered with some custom markings I designed to have a similar feel to the out of the box ‘F&C’ models. A very subtle weathering and requested crew member finish it off.

The 0-4-0 tender locomotive required a small repair to the tender frame, and this has just received a subtle weathering (and crew) to blend in with the Porter.

Not every job that crosses my bench is a big one - these small models have been a welcome break from some more serious complicated efforts and I’ve enjoyed them immensely. If you have a project you think I can help you with then do get in touch (in the menu or via the Commissions page) to discuss your requirements but, until then, more soon…

  1. I bought one of those tender locos intending to use the chassis for something - forget which. But I can't bring myself to sacrifice it. Did you take the glazing out?

    1. This one didn’t have any glazing. I added some to the Porter, but the F&C was a simpler commission.
