Manning Wardle cab conversion…
In all the excitement of the Manning Wardle L arriving from Rapido you’d have been forgiven for not noticing I was working on a cab conversion kit…
The prototype arrived and fitted without modification so we pressed the button on production etches. These are now available for just £9 including UK postage from Light Railway Stores.
The kit only fits the Rapido model with the weather shield rather than full cab. The etched parts fold up and can be glued or soldered to shape, and painted before fitting should you wish to preserve the factory finish. On my example here, I used Humbrol 20 ‘gloss crimson’ over grey primer.
I look forward to the myriad of light railway schemes that follow and I’ve a few commissions to work on here that I will share in the coming weeks too - for now though, back to the bench - it’s a busy week here with preparing for Larkrail around managing commission work. Until next time, more soon…
Hi James, I just got a couple of the cab roofs, they look great. I wasn't clear from the instructions if the inner and outer sections should be soldered together before bending to shape?

I'm sorry it isn't explicit. Form the inner, keep checking the fit. Once you're happy solder the front edges, then form the outer around it, soldering as you go...
