Commission: Valdora in 16mm/ft…
It’s become something of a tradition now that Monday features a recent ‘Commission’. This week is no different, and we’re stepping outside with this recent ‘finish and paint’ job…
This is a ‘Mylocosound’ Valdera kit - based upon an Australian prototype, the yellow livery should give it away that this is a sugar cane shunter. She arrived largely assembled but without details and with the tab and slot construction all to visible.
Initial efforts focused on finish - so filling sanding and smoothing whilst trying not to ‘furr’ up the MDF. These were primed at regular intervals for this reason and to check progress.
The details were also assembled - and where required filed and smoothed - it’s a neat kit with some nice ideas. The chassis is heavy and well engineered, reminding me of an Essel. The body is all laser cut MDF. Under the bonnet are batteries, control and a sound card and speaker!
I finished her off without weathering at my customer request. This was a relatively ‘budget’ build - focusing on neatness of finish over prototype accuracy. The result looks good though, and most importantly my customer is very happy with it and my attention to detail. If you’d like me to finish off a stalled project or repair or ‘save’ a kit construction project then get in touch, we will discuss your requirements before I give you a fixed price personal proposal, based upon your wants and needs. Either way, I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing photos of a train on the tramway - albeit somewhat abandoned since the arrival of the puppy. Until next time, more soon…
