Autumn of the season - Llangollen DMU gala…
Yesterday Janey and j had a child free day out - a few steps away in the valley. We rode trains all day and enjoyed an evening trip to Corwen along with a lovely pint. The weather was mixed, but the platforms busy, an enjoyable ‘end’ to the mid-week train services this year, and an unwelcome reminder of the cold winter nights, and winter shutdown ahead…
The Class 104 is out for the last time for a few years this weekend - she is in need of something of a bodywork overhaul - and will be sorely missed for her power twin setup and loud boy racer exhaust system is both distinctive and exciting. The trains are out again today, so I’ll be probably on them once more - but it was sharing the experience with my partner yesterday which made the day so special.
It is easy to forget what you have on your doorstep. Janey hadn’t had a trip for many years - as the nights draw in I’ll remember fondly sitting on the platform sharing a gentle evening with her, a beer and my other great love, railways. Until next time, more soon…
