Dyfrdwy Tramway awakens…
Spring sunshine warms the soil - and the soul. Daffodils in flower, the garden awakening. A morning of clearing, tidying and a touch of pruning…
I’m glad I spent a few moments with the railway today. There are no promises for development, just that if I happen to enjoy running a train, doing some maintenance or building something new, that I’ll share it here. For now, until next time, more soon…
Patio furniture out of the greenhouse once more, and the tramway largely clear - certainly enough for a train. The Alan Keef is heavy and sure footed, the moss, vegetation and debris causing something less than a smooth ride - but despite the weather, the winter and the best efforts of the puppy the line survives.
Gone are the gates and fencing mind, too the fuel tank… imagination has to fill in the gaps for now, a practice that always repays the effort.
For whilst the orange diesel shuffles up and down my mind wanders and thoughts of the ‘military’ or explosives factory alternative history come floating back to me, fresh from the pages of a Gordon Edgar photo album but coloured with nostalgia and the strange feeling that this tramway is real.
For it must be, old cast iron signs in the undergrowth and a copy of Model Railway Journal in the cab…
