Return to Beaverbrook…

Life and modelmaking are not straight tracked, turnouts, red signals and delayed connections conspire to frustrate distract and otherwise pause progress on our treasured creations…

Beaverbrook is no exception. Whilst holding the title of ‘largest layout I’ve built for myself’, it is only 8ft long. Its permanent home is equally a problem and a saviour. It breeds complacency yet provides instantaneous relief when required - and as a result progress has stalled over the past 6 months, maybe more…

Posing this photo a few moments ago I’m reminded of my deep connection to these models and this place, a blend of un-visited reality and first hand experience. It has taught me so much and yet remains paused, a time capsule of progress - finished structures rub shoulders with primer and even card.

And you know what?

That is ok.

For I am glad it is here and have no urge nor desire to replace it. The story has evolved, the stage is one that plays host to various time periods and locations, and some gentle, DCC sound assisted mindful mediative switching.

If you want to learn more the Beaverbrook label will collect all of the material here on the blog - and there are plenty of videos in my YouTube channel. In the meantime, more soon…
