Commission: NGG16 in 009…

I’ve had a busy summer of 009 commissions - and as well as the pair of NG15s I have finished off a pair of Michael Tucker NGG16s with RT Models valve gear, the first of which is shared today…

This is far from the first of these models on the bench, they’re a chunky purposeful prototype (one that I do have a soft spot for) and a Michael’s kit captures the character well. Most of the work is in prep and finishing as there is little assembly - bar the valve gear. I miss the VofR kit from RT, and I think it strikes the right tone in that department.

This example is finished in Humbrol gloss crimson with all pipework and handrails picked out as appropriate. The finish is set off with yellow edged black lining, silver boiler bands and custom WHR decals. Plates from Light Railway Stores complete the look.
