Sirdar in 009: firebox...

Slow but steady - small steps of progress on Sirdar...

Tonight I have fabricated the firebox! This was done in the same way as the smokebox - two pieces of 30 thou plasticard, spaced out to the right distance and then a wrapper of 10 thou over the gap. To this the front assembly (smokebox and boiler) were attached and a piece of plastic section added to the gap to represent the joint. No weight added to this though as it's directly over the rear drivers, not within the wheelbase. Only the front half of the tanks will have further weight added as I don't want to add to the problems of balance with this chassis. More soon...
