Commission: 009 Peckett and Hudswell…
Another 009 commission that has graced the bench over recent months is this pair of 3D printed 009 bodies using quite old fashioned N gauge mechanisms...
The idea was a light touch and fairly simple paint scheme. I began by fettling the bodies to fit the chassis - which involved a great deal of brittle resin material in the firebox being removed on Pegasus, and added packing pieces to the Hudswell. To disguise the worm on the latter I've added the typical inverted spring and some extra detail including clack valves, sanding pipework etc. Named 'Salonika' (my customers choice) and painted in a simple two colour scheme she runs pretty smoothly considering the age of the Arnold chassis.
Pegasus is a 'sort of' Peckett - but I accidentally ordered Barclay works plates (!). Once the chassis was fitted better in the chassis it was a simple job of repairing a little printing damage and then a simple green paint scheme. Adding a lamp, bucket and plates added the finishing touches to this characterful model.
My customer had purchased the bodies from eBay, sourced the chassis and hit a problem. Neither fitted! He approached me to see if I thought the work was worthwhile - I offered to take on fitting the chassis and detailing the body shell with extra parts and fitting custom etched plates.
Not every commission needs to break the bank - this pair have returned home and my customer is very happy indeed, which is all the thanks I need (beyond payment, obviously!!). If you're interested in commissioning a model please do get in touch for a no-obligation fixed price proposal. Until next time though, more soon...
