HEA in N: Prototype testing...
When I built the cut-down Class 08 in N gauge I hinted there was more to come. More recently I shared some CAD work completed by Will at Coventry Railworks for a HEA in N...
The first 5 prototype prints have arrived - and I am excited to share these photos with you all - so excited infact that I have now had to strip them back down to parts to paint!! The model is printed in two parts, the chassis and hopper and I've fitted these with Mosquito 6.2mm disc wheels with semi-finescale profile.
Destined for 'another' project, the models will allow me to create the Cwmmawr micro I have had in mind for a few months. I believe Will is printing a few more prototypes for others interested alongside using this CAD to develop the model as an injection moulded kit, a very exciting prospect. If you're interested do get in touch with Will and share your thoughts and how many you think you'd be up for - as this sort of feedback will help him work out both the style of kit and the quantities involved, informing the way the tooling is designed and paid for - I can whole heartedly recommend these models, Will has designed them with my encouragement but I have paid for these, I believe in the work he has done, and is doing for N scale - support him if you can. For now though, I'll share more once some colour appears on these! Until next time, more soon...

These are really interesting James. Can I just ask whether you use brass bearings with these 3d printed chassis? I'm building Alimina hoppers and need to work out which length axle to use (2mm finescale).
ReplyDeleteNo I don’t use brass bearings, so I’m afraid I can’t help.
DeleteYou HAVE helped James. No bearings is an option I can pursue. Cheers
DeleteGreat!
DeleteThose look very good. Is Coventry Railworks just through Facebook and Ebay, the link takes you to a coming soon page?
ReplyDeleteI know Will has plans to get the website up shortly - I hadn’t realised it wasn’t live - so yes, Facebook and eBay for now!
