On video: RS23 on Beaverbrook…

Yesterday I shared photos of the latest model completed for my HO scale shelf layout Beaverbrook. I promised it would not be too long before you could hear her in action…

I really enjoyed playing with the new model last night - and I hope this comes across in the latest video! Filmed rather than live, with some old and new photo angles my hope is it is a pleasant way to spend 20 minutes of your Sunday.

On this day of remembrance I hope you can take a moment to reflect on the sacrifice made by those who gave their lives so we could live ours in relative peace and with freedom. Whatever your religious or political persuasion this isn’t a day of celebrating victory or violence, it’s what one person has done for another.

Until next time, more soon…

  1. Hi James

Just spent a pleasant twenty minutes as you suggested watching the RS23 at work. Was fully immersed in the switching moves and although I know some of your structures are mock-ups the mind ignored that as the RS shuffles cars. Your model looks and sounds good and Bachmann's sound file is up to the job and says Alco to me. As a slightly pedantic point the S2/S4 were turbo charged but it looks like the donor was an S4 as they rode on AAR trucks with S2 using Blunt trucks . However I don't think the sound would be different and as you say its not quite right anyway.

Look forward to seeing more in the future

    Best regards
    Alan

    1. Thanks Alan, glad you enjoyed it! The model has had the truck side frames replaced as part of the work, these are light weight road trucks.

    2. Hi James

I did wonder about the trucks and whether you had changed them. So should have checked before I pressed "publish" as looking at them there are a number of differences from AAR trucks. Makes it an even better model however

      Best regards

    3. That is very kind Alan - thank you. Yes I only corrected incase anyone else came along and didn't realise they needed replacing when using the Bachmann donor model!
