The finish line...
I found this old slide on eBay and recently added it to my collection. On the back of the frame, scribed in fine royal blue fountain pen I found the following inscription...
Words by Chris, modelling by James - story telling by Hilton and Mears.
“The finish line.
That extra chrome that takes an ordinary Impala and seats you closer to the Cadillac.
The way we bear our livery.
And in a moment like this it’s not the size of the engine that is the way to measure a heart."
We're on a bit of a roll with this stuff at the moment and having fun, I hope you are all enjoying this too...
More - as usual, using the Hilton and Mears label. Until next time though...
Loving it….

Yes! This is the culmination of "Model Railways as Art". A picture in a transparency frame. Blurring the lines between reality and model. If the model is set in the 1960's then the photographs themselves should look like they were taken in that time period. There are so many apps and image processing presets that make this easy. I had a great deal of fun processing pictures of my O scale layout North Cotes as sepia toned to help create the era I'm modelling. More please
ReplyDeleteThanks Ian - choosing how we share our work with the wider world is one of my favourite muses, as much as the model making and artful process itself... I've tried the apps and don't really get on with them though, which is a bit frustrating. This was just a bit of old fashioned image editing, nothing that Photoshop 2.0 couldn't do on my Mac IIsi back in the early 90s.
DeleteThe photo is excellent and no point does the question of how large the layout is or isn't come to mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, the beauty of designing a layout with composition and intimacy front and centre.
