Forgotten, but not gone…

I was tidying up now that Lametton Halt is finished. Tucked under the table it is sitting on was one of my flight cases, itself relocated because of the storage of the large scale Rustons (although two of these have gone now, leaving just one box)…

I couldn’t remember which layout was in the silver case - popping open the catches and lifting the lid I remembered from just the hint of a roof visible through the bubble wrap. Creech Barn, my 009 ‘museum’ inspired micro, and longest running project here, I think!

A home to my smaller European outline 009 narrow gauge locomotives it’s a lovely little toy. Why then has it never been finished? Things tick along but then halt! Track is painted and ballasted, the shed is basically complete, the scenery started…

I enjoy running a train on it too…

So there is no real reason, other than accessibility. Once I close the lid, I forget. This brings me back to the main reason that Paxton Road (et al) work so well. They take a leaf from Pont-y-dulais, the first. Flick a switch and they’re on - in your life. Their presence encourages play and progress. The lesson? Don’t hide you layouts away, unless there is no other choice. The future for Creech Barn? I hope to add a wash to the shed roof, and paint the sector plate ‘well’ whilst I have it out. Oh and enjoy running a train or two I’m sure…

Until next time, more soon…

  1. I wondered what had happened to Creech Barn. Glad to see it's still around
