Bagnall saddle tank in 009: fret fitted...
The second test etch in todays parcel was the revised etch for the Bagnall saddle tank, this time with the cab pieces added...
So without further ado... 'it fits' - all new test pieces fit perfectly. The cab roof could do with being increased in size by about 0.5mm in total width, but that's easy enough to change. Starting at the front, the fold up buffer beam. This will have some 3D printed parts added to the print, to allow the infill behind it to be made up, and to add some nice 'dumb buffers' with bolt head detail (and a clever coupling hopefully). The new smaller smokebox door is perfect too...
On to the cab and the front plate fits perfectly over the firebox, and in width and height! The side plates fit well, and the roof looks right.
I don't intend to run mine with a back plate - but I've drawn one up and it fits well perfectly too - you can see hear the model without and with this in place.
So all in all a successful round of adjustments - this prototype model is now in a good enough position to be finished off - so I'll start adding the handrails and other details in the coming weeks. More soon...
