Hungarian C50 in 009...

I began drawing up CAD to produce a Hungarian C50 narrow gauge diesel about 4 years ago, however progress was hampered by lack of a suitable drive...

The prototype is a widely built 'do it all' locomotive for the myriad of 600 and 760mm gauge forestry lines in Hungary and were manufactured in relatively large numbers after the second world war, with many surviving today on tourist railways across the country.

I was looking for a use for a Bachmann 009/H0e Rusty chassis, and the C50 seemed to fit the bill perfectly. This newly drawn design featured a one piece print that the Rusty chassis simply screws into using the original mounting holes, the body features pre-drilled holes for handrails and is complemented by an etch of nickel silver overlays including front and rear buffer beams, bonnet doors and louvres and cab doors. Narrow Planet Bona couplings (now white metal) will also be included. I've ordered the prototype so I will share more when it is built, aiming for release at or before ExpoNG in October. More soon...
