Industrial Impluse...

I'm not usually one for an impulse buy but this week, with it being my birthday, I've succumbed twice - more on the second in a separate post, but here is the first, an Oxford Rail 'Janus' from Hattons for just under £50...
The prototype were a hugely successful class of industrial locomotive built by the Yorkshire Engine company and used extensively by the steel industry. In looks, you'll notice it appears to be a pair of BR Class 02 locos back to back on an 0-6-0 rather than 0-4-0 chassis. Indeed, Janus actually was the two headed goddess...
The model is finely detailed and runs, after a period of running in, very smoothly indeed. I'm not entirely convinced by the livery, and infant the wasp stripes on the nose are a little less than perfect - but I think it will be repainted into a green livery with black wheels, whilst retaining the wasp striped buffer beams.
Not sure where it will end up being used, it's probably a little large for my OO micro layout - although it's not a lot bigger than the Bachmann Class 03, it is a touch longer. The prototypes were 400-440hp, similar in performance to the BR Class 08. More as work progresses (at some point)...
