Sygun copper mine...
I visited Sygun copper mine near Beddgellert with my daughter over the weekend, and as well as an interesting explore of the old workings and an ice cream I was looking at the various styles of wagon hoppers...
A short rake outside the main entrance - these are on track that reaches into the mine - now they obviously don't date from the mine in use (closed in 1903) but possible used during the restoration of the mine to create a tourist attraction in the mid 1980s.
This skip chassis has a sort of trough with a shute and opening at one end, I wonder what this was used for?
On the upper level there were a few more items, this small skip is placed on a larger chassis, some interesting details with the added handles on the ends.
This appears to be a Penrhyn waste wagon and is probably the one in worst condition, and probably didn't get used during the renovations. Anyway, it goes to show you find interesting narrow gauge inspiration in lots of places. More soon...
