How often do we rely on the lead actor to set the time and place on our stage…

Despite hours of careful observation and mindful modelling without geographic architecture our layouts can be curiously location and period agnostic - this is especially true for industrial layouts where investment in infrastructure stretched only to maintenance rather than upgrade and replacement, as such diesels roamed where once steam ruled, the mark of time shown in fuel and fashion rather than rust and rail.
