West Claremont memories…
On October 3, 1977 CLCO Conductor Bruce Davidson signals Engineer Bill Dow whilst switching cars at Hilton Mears paper, West Claremont…
Seem here, the CLCO leased and operated its own small fleet of tank cars (owned by American Car and Foundry) to service a number of Claremont area customers requiring fuel oil. Meanwhile the CN 40ft car is about to be eased onto the track scale (out of shot, left) for weighing. This view shows the Indian summer of trains on the old inter urban trackage as in the early 1980s the deck truss bridge across the Sugar River was deemed unsafe to handle the increasing size of boxcars needed for paper loading, ending service to Coy Paper and Hilton and Mears.
Todays blog is a view of how Kinross looks, this very moment in my workshop. Infrequently used but often enjoyed, this small slice of Prince Edward Island has a similar ‘blank canvas’ character as Paxton Road, Beaverbrook and previously Pont-y-dulais, helping to tell stories beyond its rigid form. Until next time, more soon…
