The gift of kindness…
I receive parcels most days here - the thrill of opening a new package diminished but not extinguished. All ‘part of the job’, that excitement remains. I am lucky…
Sometimes things take a few weeks to arrive so I’m not always sure what is due - gently tearing open a jiffy envelope last week I was more than just mildly excited as out slid a pair of Chivers N gauge kits, ordered by a good friend, a surprise and very welcome. Alongside the anticipation that turns into a positive energy (‘excitement’) I recognised something else. A more tender, gentle feeling, the sort of thing you feel with a hug, or even a warm smile. Kindness, caring… when you are in someones thoughts.
I’ve had a rough few months in my head over the winter. The sunshine brings with it brighter, warmer, longer days - this is helping. On top, this gift tangibly reminds me I’m not forgotten. Beyond the initial ‘parcel opening and surprise’ there is warmth to be found in the research of the prototype, the construction and finishing of the model, the enjoyment of photographing it on the layout. A warmth that lasts. Thank you good friend. Your gesture was beautifully timed.
Until next time, more soon…
