I quite often see the potential in using a stage set for a different play. In this most recent case, during its construction I tried a few actors on Mchowisko…

My first kit in the EuroNG range, all those years ago was an adaption of the LKM NS2 in 009 to fit a Minitrains chassis. Posed here with come HOe skips, perhaps an East German brick works? |

The EuroNG Jung Dn2t kit was inspired by photos in some forestry books, amd is a little caricatured in 009. Nevertheless her red lined tanks feel at home on this short train of Minitrains Feldbahn stock. |
Whilst some felt naturally at home, others less so, but the stage nevertheless allowed enough freedom in the composition for them to tell their own story.

A Bachmann Baldwin and we’re on the flat Purbeck plain heading for Ridge… |

Whilst the lighting doesn’t work quite as well for an N model, 97304 proves that the scenery even is scale agnostic.

I should be working on structures for Denton Road this weekend, instead I’ve been repainting that Farish 31 seen on Friday. It’s cold, so cold, dark and pretty miserable too… such is life in the Welsh valley. Until next time though, more soon…

Hi James
ReplyDeleteThis just shows how minimal but well worked scenery can be a base for many scenes.
The Baldwin for instance could just as well be on a French sugar mill tramway as in Dorset
Hope the weekend has gone well
Best regards
Alan
Yes, quite Alan - completely agree!
DeleteI thoroughly concur on the effect the current weather has...I've got toys to play with, but the garage is too cold, damp and dark for me to feel motivated in any way.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, the NS2 I built from your kit remains one of my favourite models, James.
I've got a Mosslanda sitting idle, so perhaps I should have a shot at building something to go on it!
Cheers,
Simon,
Good to hear the NS2 is still a favourite - mine remains so too... Mosslanda you say... well, what are you waiting for?!
DeleteDear James,
DeleteAre there any plans for more planet industrials kits/ ready to run models planned for the future?
What am I waiting for? Warmer weather, mostly! I did start noodling about with some blue foam and odd bits of Crazy Track, but found that as it got colder, my creativity started to close down...
DeleteHoping to get the half of the garage I want to use for modelling floored, ventilated and insulated before next winter. The other half will be for messy jobs (big scenery, baseboard construction etc.) as well as motorcycle maintenance and the like.
Ben - not at present.
DeleteSimon - the point of the Mosslanda being it’s small and indoors!
Great work James, just watched the video of Mchowisko, may i ask how you created the backscene ? is it your own work or a purchase ?
ReplyDeleteThank you Malcolm, the backscene is the top of an ID back scene N gauge one, the same as used on Paxton Road, but just the sky. On Paxton Road this was faded with white paint in an aerosol. On Mchowisko it had a narrow band of ‘distance’ painted along the bottom.
