The summer of ‘61…

It is the summer of 1961 and our photographer finds himself in mid-Wales. The sleepy village of Pont Dulas a lovely place to sit alongside the river, enjoying the cooling breeze in the warm sunshine…

Trains are uncommon here now with just a handful a day largely serving the dairies of the district. Passengers have turned their back on the line in droves with the improved bus services.
The end is nigh, but holding out is 8727 with the afternoon service returning to Carmarthen.

Pont Dulas is a HiFi-micro cameo layout, in just 60cm. It has featured here on the blog and YouTube in the past if you’d like to learn more. It also features in Model Railway Companion which I believe is close to selling out - and unlikely to be reprinted with the second on the way.

Fancy some help in telling your own story? I can work with you on simple locomotive or stock weathering to complete design and build of small cameo layouts. Get in touch for a no obligation proposal. Until next time, more soon…
