Prepared at Coalbridge Street…

Things move slowly on the Ballard and Wantage. It is 1983 and the GE45t that has spent its entire working life on these rails rolls an empty Boston and Maine 40ft car into Clark’s…

To the railfan’s delight the light footed switcher means frequent runs between the B&M interchange in Ballard and the yard at Wantage - handling just a few cars each time. At this time of year the usual flour traffic is bolstered by heating oil and road salt at Langford’s…

This is equally good news for you, if you’re coming to Uckfield this weekend to see the layout, as it means there is a little more happening than usual! I’m located in the main entrance foyer but I’m told there is plenty of space sp please do stop by, watch operations, have a chat, perhaps even have a go and experience how a small compact switching layout might be just the thing for your home / study / workshop.

I’ve prepared the layout for its third and possibly final exhibition outing - the track is clean, wiring working, wheels on locomotives cleaned and stock and scenery vacuumed and dusted. Tomorrow I’ll get together the paraphernalia the layout needs when ‘on the road’ which will completely fill my little car on Friday!

Until next time, more soon…

  1. Looking good, James, and I'm sorry I shalln't be able to attend to see the layout performing. You will be busy this weekend, but I hope we might enjoy more video of Coalbridge Street some time soon.

  2. Hi James, some lovely shots of Coalbridge street, I hope your trip to Sussex goes well. I'm just sat on the sofa with a tankard of local cider and reading through some of Chris Mears blog posts about Kinross. A fascinating discussion between you and Chris. The photos of the tracks on PEI are very atmospheric, the rail looks very lightweight! It was a privilege to have a go operating Coalbridge street at Larkrailhotel. Take care.
