Janus weathering...

Although posed here without handrails, Janus has been making a lot of progress and is nearly finished. This birthday impulse purchase has had a real transformation from Allied Steel and Wire blue...
The green finish has now been weathered, including just a wash, sponges used to remove this carefully, and then micro painting for rust and dirt streaks. All that remains is to add some weathering from the airbrush, soot and road dirt. Then handrails and couplings can be re-fitted.
Off note are the the small rust streaks from each of the handrail mounting plates along with the rain washed soot down the exhaust stack. I'm also really pleased with the neat Narrow Planet etched works plates - I'm still waiting on the cab side works plates and name plate - Idris - these will really finish the model off...
This model along with the Austerity have me planning another 4mm OO scale project, I want to try out the Peco Bull-head points, and such they may be perfect models for a small colliery/industrial project.

On the workbench at present are some suitable wagons - Parkside coal 21 and 24t examples, I'll sketch out my ideas for a layout between commissions this week too... More soon...
