Hudson Hunslet: Four green plus one...

Further to my recent post about 'No.9' the other three green Hudson Hunslet's are 99% complete (just a touch of dry brushing on a pair, plus a bit more on the Hare Crag example), with a dry bright day I have posed the ensemble in the garden...
The four are shown here with the prototype model, so that's five models all in different colours - all green mind, and all with subtle differences in detail and finish.
This 'Trefor' cab version has been lined in a style similar to that at Blanau Ffestiniog, along with the red buffer beams. It has been lightly weathered all over, with a little more dirt on the footplate. It just needs dry brushing in a few areas to bring the edges to life and then sealing with lacquer.
This open cab is based on a prototype at Amberley and is a much brighter 'brunswick' green with a red oxide primer engine block and modified exhaust. Again, a little dry brushing will bring the cab handrails, buffers and some of the other detail to life, but it's largely complete.
This Hare Crag model is more of an olive drab, and is a lot dirtier. It will have detail rust patches painted on before dry brushing, and I also need to fabricate a canvas screen for the cab door.

It goes to show the variety that has been built into these models, and I hope, when the last one is finished, to do some sort of montage of this batch. If you'd like to reserve one of the 2020 batch then please get in touch either through the form on my website, Facebook or one of the forum messaging systems. More soon...

  1. The Amberley version is exactly how I remember it in real life.
