East Works: views in black and white...
As the layout nears completion I've taken a few shots to help share some of the views and cameos, as well as show how well things have blended together, whilst maintaining a little 'mystery' before it's unveiling at ExpoNG later this month...
In this photo the old cab rear of one of the engines is in use as a ballast store, as well as the lamp hut re-used from Creech Bottom...
Here you can see the small track crossing, as well as, on the left, the ramp up to the old wagon loading platform which much have been very steep and difficult before it fell out of use...A view along the line towards the loading platform and the line to the mines (left) and to the works (right) past Russell's shed...
A view of the works, a little more to do in this area still, but you see the NS2 shunting the mill buildings (the old mine at Creech Bottom has been re-purposed as an office here)...
A final shot showing Stanley outside the shed and the loading platform a little slower, with the mill shed in the background (right) and the line heading back across the heath to the mines (left). What is interesting is how well the scenery blends together, this is also evident in full colour, which I hope people appreciate when they see the layout in the flesh so to speak... More soon...
