Planet Industrials: Ruston 165DE concept design complete...

Well, it wasn't long ago, last Thursday infact, that design work started on this model but over a few days of revision and checking things have progressed to this stage...

You can see that a lot of the detail is being fleshed out now, with some of the detail shown on the etched panels (which helps etch design later) along with some 3D printed details (brake shoes, cast weights) being included under the footplate. These things take time but are worth thinking about as they improve the finish of the overall model for little extra modelling effort on the part of the builder.

All that remains before I order a prototype print is to add some supports in the cab for the control desk and some rudimentary cab details, seats etc. Then once the print is ordered the 2D design begins as the 3D artwork is exported into the CAD package to design the etched elements.

The proposed kit has received a warm welcome, thank you to all for that, I'll keep focused on this and other Planet Industrial releases for the rest of 2020, hopefully something for everyone in our range by Christmas. More on that though another time. Until then, more soon...
