Commission: Tralee and Dingle coaches in 009...

I've been working on a pair of coaches for an Irish customer for a few weeks, to accompany his previous commissions (the T&D Hunslets and Kerr Stuart)...
The brake coach was entirely built by me, and combined a Branchlines kit with Worsley Works sides to create a unique model. As the T&D locos are closer to 3.5mm scale I used Peco L&B wagon bogies to drop the height, and allow use on 9mm track rather than the lovely supplied 12mm gauge bogies. The coach has been painted in BR Crimson with freight grey roof...
The simple finish is achieved with use of an airbrush, it would not be possible to achieve such a smooth finish as easily with brush. The roof has been lightly weathered with soot, and the chassis and ends a little road dirt.
The second coach is a rebuild of a previously built model - I dismantled and removed the rippled and aging glazing before cleaning up the model, a few small repairs and preparing for re-assembly - the bogies were replaced in the same way and roof vents and rain strips added to the roof, before repainting in the same manner.
The pair look great behind the T&D loco (seen previously) and I hope to share some photos when they're home behind the Hunslet's... in the meantime, if you've got some models or kits waiting to be built and would like me to bring them to life for you then get in touch. More soon...

  1. Hi James these look amazing. I just ordered the Brake third from Worsley Works but there were no support included so I just wonder if you made those yourself or kit bashed?

    1. I used the Branchlines kit and just substituted the WW sides, irrc, but it was a terribly long time ago now! Good luck John.
