Commission: 8 yellow TML PXAs in OO...
This batch of 8 PXA wagon were finished off a week or so ago, and are now in their new home, they were quite the labour of love in the end, not just the quantity but also getting some of the key features right...
These 8 wagons ended up with three coats of yellow paint as my customer and I debated exactly what colour the prototype was - in the end I mixed a batch of paint, always a risk with a large quantity to paint (in case it runs out before you've finished!) to match the unique brown tinged yellow that the TML liveried wagons carried. Getting things like this right is important, you can't always rely on 'a tin of paint' in the right colour. Nearly all my models are finished in Humbrol enamels, and if I can't get the right shade I'll mix it. This is especially important when presenting older or weathered finishes as pigments fade over time - this can be suggested by mixing a suitable shade. Remember also that colour should scale too, due to the effect the environment (i.e. particulate in the air, the haze of a summers day for example) as we view items at a distance.
]In the end, the results here were certainly worth it and the rake of 8 wagons makes an impressive sight. If you've got a model you'd like help bringing to reality, get in touch using the contact form in the menu on the home page, Facebook or the forums, for a personal proposal that is specific to your own requirements. In the meantime, more soon...
