Bah humbug…

It’s lovely to see and hear trains in the valley again This weekend, but I’m not one for decorating locomotives in tinsel…

So a somewhat sombre moody photo of 5310 heading for Carrog yesterday with the second Santa of the day. Whilst only really ticking over, the Sulzer sounded wonderful as usual. Pannier on the back not too shabby either!

Until next time, more soon…

  1. Bah Humbug indeed! I tend to find that I feel trapped by the whole thing.
Nice, atmospheric photo, James, though I had to look the loco up as I don't really know much about Scottish diesels. It could certainly have been taken some time in the early 1970s...

    1. Thanks Simon, yes, trapped is a good word. I dislike the massive commercialisation and the expectation placed upon us to ‘spend money’. All the kids want now are £££ of mobile phones!

  2. I'm not too keen on the polar express lights on trains, this sort of thing looks better on American stainless steel coaches with either F or E units up front... In the dark!! Lovely photo James. All that lineside details. Take care.

    1. Light pollution! I don’t object to the train, decorations inside the coaches and on the platforms - just the over the top tinsel on a locomotive feels really cheap and nasty.

  3. I thought it might be a 'Thomas' weekend as there appears to be half the face of a angry looking chap on the back of that diesel!

    1. That’s a great spot, I’d not seen that but now can’t not see it!
