On Video: The Art - Revisited...
I spent a fantastic evening re-acquainting myself with the second book earlier this week. It was wonderful to reconnect with the material and the messages contained within its pages…
I decided to put a bit of a video together, a conversation with you all as I flick through, reflect and enjoy its pages. In the video we spend a little longer than my usual ‘overview’ videos, this is a meaningful and deliberate decision, I want you to see and hear why I say this is the book of which I am lost proud.
As usual, thank you for all the support. If you have a copy yourself then perhaps this is encouragement to take another look, if you don’t then there is still, just about, time to get a copy before Christmas!
Until next time, more soon…
Support my work
I love writing and creating material for the blog. If you enjoy what you read and engage with I would be appreciative of any donation, large or small, to help me keep it advert and restriction free. Alternatively, feel free to buy me a coffee.
The picture of the blue class 25 with the crew having chat at the start of chapter 2 is my absolute favourite. It could be taking a break from shunting Hayle Wharves or Truro yard. Can't believe it's N gauge. All three of your books sit proudly on the shelf alongside Iain Rice's layout design books and Tony Koester's US railroad design books. I remember picking up the Peco 009 track plan booklet you did the layout plans for, I thought how fresh the presentation was, I've never modelled in 009 but the plan book is still influential for the feeling and style of the plans. It's how I first found out about your work, long before I discovered your blog. I can't wait for the next book! Have a good weekend, take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom - and how funny you discovered me through the pages of the Peco plan book. I have done a TT one for them, if it ever sees the light of day. Thank you for your continued support.
DeleteJames an enjoyable video catching up and revisiting your book the art of railway modelling. I agree with Tom the class 25 is definitely my favourite loco throughout the book. Your work tells a story and is a great inspiration to railway modellers like myself. Looking forward to the next book in your collection have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kevin, that is very kind!
DeleteEnjoyed the video, and your reflections on it and the hobby. Your books and work serve as both an inspiration and conversation starter. In my work life your books often travel with me and help to break up the monotony of overnights in hotels, and often serve as ice breakers with fellow crewmembers.
ReplyDeleteStephen that’s wonderful, thank you glad you enjoyed it!
