Refreshed Railfreight 08 in N…
When this particular model arrived I marvelled at its pure mundane grey paint. I promised you all that N gauge was about exercising that pure childhood enjoyment of out of the box models…
So how far things have come! Celebrating the celebrity, enjoying repainting and detailing models to make them my own - to fit my story.
This little man appeared towards the end of the year making his debut in a short video (I’ll add it at the bottom), and is based upon a Haymarket pet, stable mate of my Provincial liveried 761. I found in practice that the grey was just too boring on Paxton Road. A celebration of Scottish Speedlink, the colour and variety, the grey was almost an antithesis…
So an accidental discovery of 08791 on Flickr with its incorrect ‘original’ Railfreight grey mid panel I modified the RTR paint with some Humbrol 28 on the lower half and yellow and red masking on the cab ‘General’ stripes. A sprinkling of Fox decals and all blended together with weathering the result feels just right. As my Speedlink collection continues to grow I enjoy not only the finished transformation but the memory of the work itself.
Until next time, more soon…

A thing of great beauty James! I've been waiting to see more of that class 08 after a sneaky peek a few weeks ago. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom, seeing it enlarged I see all the tiny errors but stood back, like in the video, I’m pleased with it.
DeleteJames you have done a lovely job on the class 08. I know you mentioned the class 08 a short time ago and it's been worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kevin, that’s very kind. It was the rekindling of my N gauge fire it seems with the quantity of smaller scale projects I’ve enjoyed over the holidays. Lots to share in the new year!
