On Video: Mindful Switching…

Last week I released another video on the channel - whilst operational in nature its intent was more contemplative. A chance to unwind with me whilst watching a train 'silently' shuffling about on Beaverbrook...

It has been a surprising success - topping the charts of recent uploads and I'm not quite sure why? I would love to know what you all think - if you've watched it already, perhaps a chance to enjoy it again - if you haven't reflect and let me know...

I enjoy putting these together - but do worry about duplication of content. However, it's Sunday morning, what else do you need to do for the next 20 minutes?! Until next time, more soon...

  1. Hi James

Yes a nice peace of relaxing switching. Shows, every time, that if one makes prototype moves at scale speeds ( walking pace for most ) it takes almost as long to switch in HO as for the real thing and that can be a mindful experience at all sorts of levels. My only reservation, and it is purely personal, is that an appropriate decibel level of sound ( prime mover, horn bell etc) adds to the ambience.

Hope the session helped you clear your mind and set up for a good weekend.

    Best regards
    Alan

    1. Thanks Alan- in the whole I agree with sound, but sometimes it’s nice to just switch off

  2. The attraction for me in this video, is the wide range of viewpoints. Though I really enjoy the "live spontaneity" on the single camera viewpoint videos that you produce. Being able to be all over the layout and get into all those nooks and crannies to watch trains is very nice.

    1. Thanks Ian, yes, I do enjoy seeking out these angles. They’re the way I like to watch it too… one eye closed, sort of squinting imagining being trackside,

  3. Not sure why this one spoke to me maybe my mood when watching but I really felt like I was there. Hope you got as much out of it as we all did.
