On Video: For the love of it…
This film is an experiment. A short, if you like, in a style I’ve been nurturing for some time…
Distilled to its purest 60 odd seconds, sharing the story AND a meaningful, thoughtful, perhaps heartfelt connection to railway modelling.
Whilst harder than it may appear I am pleased with the result. It feels like a ‘shorter’ blog post in nature - as if I’ve managed to find a video form specific to my voice. Yes layout tours and operational videos have a deliberate style, for their form. Until now I had not worked out a way of creating something more of my own.
I would love to hear what you think, either here, or if you click the video and watch it there, then on the comments underneath. Until next time, more soon…

Yes, got it...in a nutshell!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a lad in the 1970s, Diesels were often derided by those who'd known working steam, as "bland blue boxes"...but what really got me into trains was the local Hastings DEMUs, stand by the line when a 12-car set went past, particularly working hard on an up gradient, and you were treated to 4 power cars...as Slade put it, "Cum on, feel the noize "!
I think that working on a model to bring it to life the way you do absolutely adds a "feel" to it...and isn't that what railway modelling is all about?
Thank you Simon - a great reflection. Always liked those Hastings DEMUs too - and enjoy following their progress in preservation - bland blue boxes indeed, just as character filled for us, as the steam locomotive was to them... and I'm sure today's enthusiasts feel about Sheds and EMUs!
